The ReActPack project impact

ReActPack includes interdisciplinary technical solutions for the development of processes for sustainable bioactive ingredients and packaging materials, which will meet the needs of the food industry, the domestic and the wider European market, as well as the sensitized (on issues of eating habits and environmental awareness) consumers. The technologies developed in the laboratory, both at the level of recovery of bioactive substances from food industry by-products (WP1), as well as the integration of these ingredients into existing packaging materials (WP2), as well as the application of these new materials in target products (WP3) will be optimized and validated in larger scale experiments (pilot application).

Considering that in these three key actions, the current Technology Readiness Level (TRLs) is at level 4 (the basic principles have been developed and laboratory tests have been carried out), it is expected that with the progress of the project at least a TRL of 6 will have been achieved, provided that the tests have been carried out at the pilot level.

The research work was supported by the project SUB1.1 Clusters of Research Excellence (CREs), under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0 (Strategy for Excellence in Universities & Innovation, ID 16289), Project ReActPack, ID: ΥΠ3ΤΑ-0559800.
